Nourishing active ingredients
Skin care products can contain any of a wide range of active ingredients. There are many varieties, all serving different purposes. Fats, oils and waxes are basic active ingredients that moisturise and protect the skin. Frequent combinations of ingredients include retinol and vitamin C or niacinamide and hyaluronic acid.
Hyaluronic acid is found in connective tissue and can bind very large amounts of water – just one gram of hyaluronic acid can hold six litres of water. This active ingredient can plump up wrinkles caused by a lack of moisture and smooth the skin. It also stimulates the body’s own synthesis of hyaluronic acid. Apply in the mornings in the form of a serum or cream.
Learn moreNiacinamide is a vitamin B3 derivative that protects the cells from free radicals. As an active ingredient in skin care products, niacinamide has a smoothing and soothing effect. It tightens the pores, resulting in a more even complexion. Niacinamide also inhibits melanin synthesis, which reduces pigmentation spots.
Learn moreRetinol belongs to the group of A vitamins and is a proven classic in the field of anti-ageing care. You should gradually acclimatise your skin to retinol because this active ingredient is relatively strong. It has a regenerative effect on the skin, and the use of products containing retinol also stimulates the synthesis of collagen.
Vitamin C is essential for the skin because this active ingredient plays a key role in the formation of collagen. Ascorbic acid is also a powerful antioxidant that protects the skin from harmful influences. Thanks to its cell-renewing effect, vitamin C helps to combat pigmentation spots and blemishes.
Glycerine is a moisturising active ingredient that is often combined with hyaluronic acid, fats and ceramides in skin care products. Glycerine acts like a barrier for the skin, helping to ensure that moisture evaporates more slowly. If you have dry skin, you should regularly apply a cream with the active ingredient glycerine.
